The Ministry of Sports and Arts and the Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC) stand accused of prematurely handing over the National Stadium for the Botswana Golden Prix 2025, despite incomplete refurbishment works, raising serious questions about accountability, safety, and oversight in Botswana’s biggest athletics investment to date.

Responding to a parliamentary question this week on Tuesday, Minister of Arts and Sports Jacob Kelebeng revealed that over P13.7 million was already paid to BWX Links Holding, the contractor responsible for the track upgrade, although the full contract value was P16.4 million.
