Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) patron, Ian Khama has urged the members of the central committee to stop internal fights for the control of the party as weakens them and causes disharmony.
Responding to The Patriot on Sunday last Friday regarding instability that is currently besieging the BPF, Khama said his future within the party will be decided after the congress. The three (3) year old party is heading for an elective congress scheduled for 28th October, 2022 in Tati Siding. Campaigns ahead of the congress have been marred by factionalism, which is blamed on some members of the central committee.
According to Khama, the outcome of the elections of National Executive (NEC) committee whenever the party holds its elective congress will determine his future role with the BPF. Commenting on claims that the bickering inside BPF is fuelled by funds that he pledged for preparations for the congress to the tune of P500 0000, Khama said the source of funds, if any, for any congress is not the cause of instability. He opined that those engaging in divisive actions are hellbent to undermine party unity by fuelling the instability.
