The Board of Directors of Orange Botswana confirms and indeed celebrates strategic leadership succession of the business. Dr. Patrick Benon departs after six years at the helm of Orange Botswana to explore new horizons elsewhere in the Orange global network, whilst Néné Maïga joins Orange Botswana to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective 1 September 2021.
Leadership rotations and talent mobility is well established across the Orange global group. This works to ensure talent development to benefit all markets, as well as practice of sound corporate governance. In turn, new leadership all work to ensure their country teams are invested in and grown, with talent exposure to other geographies on the globe in an effort to enhance the depth of skill of all in the Orange fold, thus empowering all to deliver greater value for customers and communities on what matters most.

As we bid him adieu and wish him well in his next chapter, we are also tremendously excited to welcome Maïga as CEO. Maïga began her career in France as a consultant before coming back to the continent of the future: Africa. She has been the Chief of Staff to the CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa since 2018, having worked on projects for the group’s entire African footprint, contributing to a more efficient and inclusive company. Previously, she was the CEO of Orange Finances Mobiles Mali, the electronic wallet used by half of adult Malians for financial inclusion. Ms. Maïga led outstanding growth of the business. She holds a master’s degree in Management from the HEC Paris Grande Ecole programme.
