First National Bank Botswana (FNBB), a Bank of many ‘firsts’ has launched an employee Wellbeing Centre and Kids Lounge (childcare services) as part of its employee value proposition. The Bank values employees as its primary stakeholders and find it fitting to invest in their overall wellbeing and that of their families.

FNBB employees will have access to the wellbeing centre where they can get the following services for self and their families; Occupational Health Services, General Practitioner Services, Dietetics and Nutrition Services, Psychologist, Maternal/ Child Health Services, Physiotherapist as well as Mindful services.

“We understand that high-pressure work environments, societal and economic pressures, stress and burn out are becoming very common and are on the rise both locally and internationally. It is, therefore, important to ensure that our employees’ mental health and personal support environments are well taken care of, especially since they work and live in highly pressurised environments”, says FNBB CEO Mr Steven Lefentse Bogatsu.

The FNBB Employee Wellbeing Centre and Kids Lounge will serve two main purposes; provide emergency childcare services and cater for employees’ personal welfare needs, all with the objective of ensuring work-life balance.

“This Employee Value Proposition is part of the organisation’s strategic efforts to develop motivated solutionist people who will provide the necessary skills and possess the desired values to best serve our customers. It is our hope that this will help create well rounded, engaged and committed employees who are the primary implementers of FNBB’s customer centricity strategy”, states Bogatsu.

He explains that  the majority of FNBB employees are between the ages of 30 and 39 and many have young families and the bank believes investing in these facilities  will create a healthy work life balance and improve productivity at work by removing complex logistics of childcare, reducing absenteeism and giving parents peace of mind that their children are safe and secure.

To further demonstrate commitment to its people, a majority of FNBB employees in non-customer facing functions are equipped to work from home. This not only to safeguard their health but ensures that employees are able to have more time to spend with their loved ones.

FNBB continues to ensure that the overall well-being of employees remains a high priority and looks forward to the positive outcome that these facilities will bring to the Bank as a whole and all stakeholders.
