STAFF WRITER
After returning to profitability by pulling out of underperforming markets and re-focusing on key ones – leading local retainer Choppies – welcomed yet another piece of positive news last week when the accountancy regulator dropped a charge they had imposed against them three years ago.
In a filing with the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE), on May 24, 2023, the company announced: “The Board of the Company is pleased to announce that the charge made against the Company by Botswana Accountancy Oversight Authority arising from alleged non-compliance by the Group with standards of corporate governance during the financial years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 has been withdrawn”.
