The Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Steven Bogatsu accepted the award at the awards dinner in London earlier this month and unveiled it to the media earlier this week.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony at FNB Headquarters in the Central Business District (CBD), Bogatsu said the award is testimony that the bank continues to strive for quality service provision to its customers.

“We continue to perform outstandingly well because we pride ourselves in constantly bringing solutions to improve the lives of our customers,” he declared.

The recognition by Euromoney, he said, cements the bank’s commitment to addressing the ever changing needs of clients.

“They want and deserve easy, convenient and quick service. We continue to invest in technology and innovation to simplify customer’s lives through our banking platforms,” he said, outlining them as; Online banking, FNB App and Cell phone banking, applications that are all aimed at inclusion, convenience and superior customer experience.

Bogatsu said that for the year the award was given for, the bank has delivered further developments that speak to customers’ angsts and leveraged on strategic partnerships to offer more financial services to the bank’s customers.

He cited some of these developments as the Cash Plus, where banking services are brought closer to customer’s homes through partnerships with retail stores for account withdrawals, e-Wallet withdrawals and deposits.

Another development that earned the bank the ‘Best Bank in Botswana accolade’ is the Remote account opening, a service offering where the bank takes the service to the people.

“We follow clients wherever they are to open accounts at the comfort of their offices and /or homes,” he explained.

The Cashback rewards – a loyalty programme to reward card carrying customers with cash for swiping and performing digital transactions such as e-Wallet, Pay2Cell, online banking, using the FNB App, instead of going in to the branch – is one such innovation the bank employs to make banking easier.

“We want to turn people away from carrying cash but rather use the digital platforms to transact,” he said.

“Additionally, we are committed to doing business in a sustainable manner as we continue to embrace and support the community which we operate in, with unflinching bias towards the young people,” he announced.

Bogatsu said the bank has invested over P35 million towards education, Skills development through vocational training, supported the disadvantaged and people living with disabilities through the FNB Foundation.

The bank has also launched the Botswana Football Association (BFA) and Botswana Tertiary Students Sports Association (BOTESSA) sponsorships in line with the bank’s focus on Youth Empowerment.

Euromoney is a globally credible platform that has encouraged banks to continuously aim for the best service quality and to keenly offer customers the best products across the financial sector.

It has been around for 50 years while the awards were first conducted in 1992. The publication covers the growth of international finance and has over the past 12 months, interviewed close to 100 bank CEOs, ministers of finance and central bank governors from around the world.
