The gender gap in Botswana’s judicial caning

Botswana's creative industry has over many years lamented of several issues with financial support being the biggest challenge. With the just ended State of the Nation Adress (SONA), the President of the Republic of Botswana Advocate Duma Boko has boldly announced that the government has taken a decision to avail P200 million from the Alcohol Levy Fund towards the procurement of Creative Arts content from young people. The support is extended to local creatives across different departments within the arts industry.

Award winning singer and song writer Hanceford Magapatona widely known as Han C has expressed that such a decision shows that government actually recognizes the creative industry as a key player in the economic growth and youth empowerment. He expressed his gratitude to the government for seeing and valuing their creativity to the point of investing in it.
