VTM FC acquired the Debswana first division south (DFDS) status of the newly promoted premier league side Masitaoka Football club of Molepolole.

“Many football teams in Botswana are paralyzed because they don’t get the basics right. Even some of premier league clubs are struggling due to financial constraints. We are learning from them and see what we can do to be a better club going forward. Running a football team is costly,” he said.

The ambitious VTM FC owner went on to say that the club has already forged partnerships with some of team in Qatar as VTM will be eyeing to sell its players to the Qatar based teams in future.

He said that VTM is also keen on establishing its village which enable them to generate extra revenue adding that the team owns a sound system that will be hired in music festivals as well.

“We have to make money in all ways to reduce reliance on VTM Security which is funding the team. Qatar market is very good opportunity for us to sell our players and exporting Botswana talent. The teams in Qatar want young players, maximum age of 21 and will develop,” he said.

According to Mafuta, the team will next week will take another good step forward as it will be launching a lucrative technical sponsor through a partnership with local sports brand Papadi.

The club is coached by former national team player Ontlatshekela Mooketsi whom Mafuta said the team management is committed to give him chance to grow as he has pontenial to coach. Mooketsi also has premier league experience having played for Township Rollers and BDF X1.

VTM FC team manager Boitshepho Littah Gaegopolwe said the team is embarking on a robust transformational journey that involves branding through social media platforms to sell team. He added that the team is ready and committed to put in a brilliant performance next season.
