The Alliance for Progressives (AP) Parliamentary candidates for Mogoditshane and Francistown South, Sedirwa Kgoroba and Wynter Mmolotsi respectively have castigated the leadership of the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) for serving their own interests.

The two parliamentary hopefuls took swipe to UDC president Duma Boko and his vice president Dumelang Saleshando over the past weekend during the launch of AP leader Ndaba Gaolatlhe.

Kgoroba said he was disappointed on how UDC president Boko handled the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) leadership dispute between the Ndaba Gaolatlhe and Sydney Pilane camp back then in 2017 following the aftermaths of bloody Matshekge Senior congress.

Venting out his frustrations on UDC leadership, Kgoroba said it was clear from onset that Boko connived with Saleshando to oust Ndaba from BMD leadership paving way for Pilane to lead.

“ We were very disappointed when we left UDC under BMD banner to form AP. Duma Boko has pushed us to leave UDC because of the casual approach he took when settling the BMD dispute because he supported Pilane and only to fire him from the coalition , Boko is so selfish” he said.

Kgoroba went on further to say that both Boko and Saleshando are leaders who are obsessed with loving power adding that they would sacrifice everything to attain state power in October.

“If we compare the UDC leadership and our own such as Ndaba, Wynter and Dr Butale you will see that UDC men all they care about is power. At AP we put first the interests of people and we will surprise those people who take us granted with regards to winning seats especially UDC cadres who undermines the AP,” said Kgoroba who writes off potential UDC-AP pact in future.

The Alliance for Progressives, vice president Wynter Mmolotsi who had survived a car accident few days prior to the Saturday launch also came with guns blazing against the UDC leadership.

Outspoken Francistown South legislator said the romance between UDC leader Boko and rich South African businessman Zunaid Moti, who also sponsors for UDC leaves a lot to be desired. He insisted that there is no free lunch as Moti cannot be landing his choppers to Boko to campaign without expecting a return favour if UDC can win state power after the elections.

Mmolotsi cautioned that UDC is trapped in an excitement for getting funds from rich businessmen such as Moti warning that he sponsored former late Zimbabwean president Mugabe for long time before he also funded a coup that ousted Mugabe back in 2017.

Further, Selebi Phikwe West Member of Parliament, Dithapelo Keorapetse has also not been an exception from the hard heating Mmolotsi who said the youthful MP’s conduct have regressed. He noted that Keorapetse has since copied a bad habit of missing parliament sessions taking a leap from his party leader Boko hence calling on the Phikwe West voters to punish Keorapetse.

“I have long known Dithapelo Keorapetse to be one of well-disciplined opposition cadres in parliament but of recent that good behaviour remains fallacy on comrade Keorapetse. He is now taking a leading role in absconding of parliament and boycotting proceedings, he has changed to a wrong conduct hence losing his smart leadership traits, “Mmolotsi bemoaned.
