The Inaugural Lecture is a significant tradition observed by universities worldwide, serving as a platform to introduce and showcase the esteemed professors within the academic community and society at large. It is a momentous occasion that celebrates the pinnacle of academic achievement – the promotion to Full Professorship.

Although Inaugural Lectures are usually given by newly promoted professors, BUAN wishes to establish this tradition by starting with professors who were promoted in the past and did not give the lectures to pave way for newly promoted colleagues.

The Inaugural Lecture is titled “Is Freshwater Fisheries Resources As A Tool For Sustainable Development In Semi-Arid Countries An Oxymoron? The Case of Botswana” will be delivered by our Vice Chancellor, Professor Ketlhatlogile Mosepele. This thought-provoking lecture will shed light on the vital topic of freshwater fisheries resources and their potential role in fostering sustainable development, particularly in semi-arid regions like Botswana.
