The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has moved to clarify issues currently dominating public discourse: President Advocate Duma Boko’s orders for direct appointments as a procurement method, and the long-standing concerns over the Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) interference in tendering processes.
PPRA Chief Executive Officer, Tumelo Motsumi said Boko’s remarks on direct procurement are fully aligned with the Public Procurement Act, emphasizing that the method is both legal and appropriate under specific conditions, particularly where strict timelines make open tendering impractical.
