The Ministry of Health and Wellness is in receipt of some communication from Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) with regards to the product recall of 300g ECCO corned beef products, with immediate effect.

The recall is due to the presence of a black-like substance found in the canned corned beef product with production dates of 31/08/2021 (batch no BB 08/2026; Code D243A and 27/10/2021 (batch number BB 10/2026; Code D300A). The black like substance was identified as food grade grease from the processing machinery/equipment that have filtered in to the product and causing the stated batches below to have a foreign body. Therefore, as a precautionary measure, the ministry urges consumers not to consume the affected products.
