Stanbic Bank Botswana has announced the appointment Chose Modise as Chief Executive of the Bank, effective 01 January 2022. All regulatory approvals have been obtained for this appointment. Modise will succeed Samuel Minta, whose tenure ends in December 2021.

“We thank Sam for his exceptional leadership as Chief Executive since January 2018. Sam led the transformation of the business with many novel and innovative initiatives, deepened the diversification of revenue streams, embedded unrelenting focus on client, employee, and community experience. We are grateful for his courage, passion and visionary leadership, and wish him the very best in his next endeavour. With this goodbye also comes great news as Chose prepares to take the reigns as Chief Executive. Chose has been an integral part of the strategic growth of the business in the last three years since he joined Stanbic Bank. This is a phenomenal milestone not only as the leadership role of the business is localised once more, but because in Chose we have a leader of great expertise, passion, courage of conviction and dedication,” said Stanbic Bank Botswana Board Chairman, Craig Granville.

Modise is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a Member of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA). He wields extensive experience in the fields of Finance, Strategy, Auditing and Risk Management as well as over 21 years of business and commercial experience in different industries in over 12 countries across Africa.

Chose previously served in the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Stanbic Bank Botswana, having assumed the role in December 2018. Notable prior roles include Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of Botswana Life Insurance Limited; Finance Director for Swaziland Beverages in Swaziland; Internal Audit Manager for Africa and Asia for SABMiller based in Johannesburg; and Head of Finance for Botswana Breweries.

Modise is passionate about building local capacity and unlocking the full potential of teams to deliver sustainable impact for all Batswana.

Modise said: “I am grateful for the vote of confidence from the Stanbic Bank Board, Standard Bank Group and to my predecessor, Sam, as well as all of our wonderful colleagues. Our purpose and passion towards driving Botswana’s growth as Stanbic Bank has never been stronger. This is an exciting and indeed promising period, and I look forward to leading the team as we continue to help transform dreams into realities in the spirit of ‘It Can Be’”.
