The event was held under the theme β€œRestoring the Prime Color of the Earth” through agriculture. β€œI am here to donate a few goodies to the children as well as engage with them in planting onion, spinach and chilli pepper seeds with the assistance of Miss Youth Power 2019 Ms Lebitso Chepete and one of my sponsors (Moringa Technology). This will be the second round of planting vegetables for my beloved children to inspire, enthuse and reignite the culture of agriculture in our country,” Ms Perry said.

Ms Perry was following on President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi`s call for promotion of promotion of agriculture, food production and security with the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme in Botswana.

The President further implored Batswana to engage in agricultural activities for commercialization to help revive the economy and increase food security thus reducing the import bill post COVID19 Lets be reminded that we also have goals enshrined in the National Vision2036 including Agriculture sector to quote β€œDevelop a disease free agricultural sector that optimizes the use of land and other resources, utilizing technologies and modern farming methods.

It could have a direct impact on the livelihoods of many of these people through provision of food and creation of employment.” In my last remarks, I want to note that Botswana subscribed to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), which in today’s event we execute SDG goal number 2 which is to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

Miss Youth Power 2019 Ms Lebitso Chepete who is passionate about improving the personal development of young children and showing the relevance of the agricultural sector as the best driver of the economy. She said β€œThe purpose of this event is to create and cultivate an enthused mindset for the children on the importance of the best agricultural practices and conservation of land primarily post this global pandemic Covid19. One of the core principles of this event is Inclusiveness, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development goal of 2030 with an emphasis on leaving no one behind.”

Local company Moringa Technology owner Yen Hui ,planted Moringa tree for the children`s village which are used to produce various products such as Moringa Instant porridge, Moringa Tea and Moringa noodles, This plant contains vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C, Calcium and Ash that are essential to the health of our bodies.
