Rev. Mmachakga Moruakgomo, representing the Botswana Council of Churches, on August 2025 undertook a diplomatic visit to Ukraine aimed at fostering interfaith cooperation, and strengthening calls for peace amid the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Addressing the media following his visit, on25th September 2025,Moruakgomo shared the disheartening realitiesof the war currently ravaging Ukraine.He commended theUkraine Churches, which in the midst of a war, continue toshow resilience and give hope to their people.Reflecting on his journey,he expressed he was deeply saddened by the chaos and human suffering he has had to witness, noting thenumerous freshly dug graves he saw as Ukrainians continue to lose their lives to the war.
