Absa Bank Botswana recently received the recognition of being named the Best Bank Governance. The announcement was made by Business Vision in early October, London, 2021. The Business Vision (BV) Awards Programme seeks out candidates with outstanding corporate achievements, but all eventual winners will also have convinced the judging panel that they have the vision to maintain and build on their success well into the future. Following the announcement, the bank continues to ensure that its corporate governance, compliance and risk management practices are of world-class standards. The Bank is fully committed to upholding strict professionalism and the utmost integrity in all its undertakings. As a listed entity, the Bank has adopted and adheres to the principles of the Botswana Stock Exchange (“BSE”) Listings Requirements and the BSE Code of Best Practice on Corporate Governance (“the Code”).

The Bank has now attained compliance with the principles of King IV and is governed by the Absa Group Governance Framework that has been established with the King IV principles and practices in mind. The Bank has made strong corporate governance its foundation for delivering innovation and sustainable growth across the many sectors in which it operates. “For us, good corporate governance is a key enabler and although we remain ahead of legal requirements, we continue to adopt an interactive approach to ensuring the adaptation of governance practices across all our business lines. This is the second time the bank is the winner of the award for Best Corporate Governance (Botswana), “said Absa Bank Botswana, Managing Director, Keabetswe Pheko-Moshagane. The award reaffirms our unrelenting commitment towards upholding the high standards of compliance with the banking regulations. Absa continues to provide superior financial solutions to its clients and customers as we aim to be the leading financial services provider in Botswana.” “Our customers are at the centre of everything that we do, and we believe that our dedication and strategy are best positioned to bring our customers possibilities to life”.

We have reviewed our processes and services to be able to continue providing superior service to our client during these challenging times as we are battling the Covid-19 pandemic. We are deliberate in promoting collaboration over competition to maximise the positive impact of a more financially inclusive society. Our diverse client and communities continue to play a pivotal role in how we serve them. The big secret is differentiation, we want to be memorable,” Pheko-Moshagane said.
