Botswana Households Showed Resilience Amid Financial Pressure-TransUnion

Letshego to raise P800m from the BSE

The Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) listed property company, RDC Properties Group, has posted strong financial results for the half-year of 2026.

RDC Properties is a diversified property investment Group with a market footprint covering Botswana, Zambia, South Africa, Madagascar, USA/Tennessee, Croatia, and Zambia. Company officials said Thursday morning, when presenting the results, that Profit Before Tax (PBT) reached P72.4 million during the period, exceeding P49.6 million from the prior year.

The Group said South Africa and Croatia carried the half, with 74% of the Group debt held

outside the Pula zone.

RDC Properties Chief Executive Officer Jacopo Pari said focusing on their strategic priorities has delivered tangible results in the six months to 30 June 2026. Pari said the Group operated under tough macroeconomic conditions across its markets, but diversification has been instrumental in cushioning the Group.

He said their risk core regions – Cape Town, Croatia, and Botswana accounted 79% of revenue) at 2.4% (Dec-25: 2.9%). In response to market volatility, the group has implemented currency hedging measures to mitigate the risks associated with foreign exchange fluctuations.

Given its diversified portfolio spanning multiple countries, RDC Properties has taken proactive steps to protect its earnings from currency depreciation and market uncertainties.

Pari said that despite challenging global economic conditions, RDC Properties has demonstrated resilience, leveraging its strong asset base and strategic financial management to deliver robust performance.

He said that as RDC Properties, their approach in the second half of the year and beyond, shall, amongst others, be completing the refinancing programme, which entails closing out 2026/27 maturities on competitive terms and broadening Botswana funding across banks, fund managers, and alternative instruments.

He further said the Group will also unlock value at year-end with the December property revaluations, including ergkelder (currently held at cost), expected to support NAV growth and LTV.

Meanwhile, Chief Financial Officer Benedicta Abosi revealed that RDC strongly mitigated risks with P875 million of debt hedged to 2028-2030, thus shielding earnings from rate rises.

Abosi said the Group investment and property portfolio registered three percent growth, closing the period at P6.5 billion, as compared to the P6.0 billion in the prior period of 2025. According to Abosi, the net asset value stood at P2.98 billion from P2.77 billion in the prior period, reflecting 7.8 percent growth.

She stated that the net asset value growth is mostly attributable to shareholders. With regards to dividend distribution, Abosi said total interim distribution declared and paid for 2026 amounted to P45 million versus the prior year at P42 million.
