- Solar, LED lights to save Govt P100m spent on street lights yearly
Homegrown, LED manufacturing company The Bulb World Botswana has been contracted by the government of Botswana to install the solar and LED street lights under different councils.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ketshephaone Jacob has said they are installing the solar street lighting in Selebi Phikwe Town Council, Lobatse Town Council and Gaborone City Council.
According to Jacob, the LED Street Lighting connection Bobonong, Serowe, Ghanzi, Good Hope and Francistown City Council, adding that the LED and Solar street lighting capacity demonstrate growth.
“Our revenue will go up, the government spends over 100 million on street lights yearly and we are gunning at getting a fair %.We are working on expanding our current facilities in S\ Phikwe through Citizen Entrepreneurship Development Agency (CEDA) which will also need more man power, meaning that the jobs will be created with the additional plant which will focus on street lighting,” The Bulb World Botswana CEO Jacob said commenting on new street lighting projects.
He also said 30 more permanent jobs will be created for the youth from solar and LED streets lightning countrywide connection projects and the numbers will go up as more support follows.
