First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) has injected P1 million to sponsor the first ever Kazungula Bridge Marathon. The marathon launch took place on Saturday, 6th November in Kasane and the official race will take place on February 26th, 2022.
The Kazungula Bridge Marathon has generated a significant amount of interest from various stakeholders and FNBB have taken a step to become the title sponsor of this initiative as the Bank values ideas such as this, which are not inward looking but have the potential to reach even beyond our borders. This is an investment that will go a long way in creating shared benefits for all.
“The annual FNB Kazungula Bridge Marathon is an event that certainly provides a great opportunity for athletes, partnerships with stakeholders, support from our local government and the strengthening of existing relationships to take place. At FNBB, supporting Health and Wellbeing initiatives remains a top priority and we are hopeful that this investment of P1 million will go a long in way in ensuring the success of this event,” said FNBB CEO, Steven Bogatsu, adding that the Kazungula Bridge, which links Botswana and Zambia promises to boost trade and tourism in the region.
The bridge, which is also a marvel to look at, is ideal infrastructure to facilitate intra-African trade between SADC countries thus boosting economies. This marathon allows runners to see this gigantic testament to partnerships.
FNB looks forward to the annual FNB Kazungula Marathon and strives to foster relationships both internationally and locally, in support of the economy as well as the overall growth of local sport and recreation.
