Church treasurer steals P3 Million

The Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs (MLHA) and Botswana Police Service (BPS) have been accused of ignoring red flags about the embezzlement of over P3 million from the coffers of Motheo Waba Apostoloi Ba Lesome Le Bobedi church.

The church overseer reported the alleged criminal activities to the Registrar of Societies and Broadhurst Police Station in 2023. This action came after the church treasurer allegedly admitted to embezzling the church funds and providing forged bank statements to the overseer and the Registrar of Societies for annual returns compliance.
