Ba Isago University was on Friday bestowed with a BOS ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certificate as a testimony that the institution has met stringent quality standards in its performance.

When handing over the certificate at the institution in Gaborone on Friday, the Acting Managing Director of Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS), Botsile Kebapetse said the institution had conformed to the requirements of BOS ISO 9001:2015 standard.

“The scope for your certificate covers a diverse variety of services including; the development of programmes, student administration, teaching, learning, assessment, research, publication, community engagement, student welfare, administrative services including HR, Finance, library, marketing, IT, etc,” Kebapetse said.

For organisations and companies to be competitive and thrive in their respective sectors, Kebapetse said, it is vital for them to adopt best business practices, which are the main pillar of the BOS ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.

“The QMS is not only concerned with improvement of quality management but most importantly our value proposition is premised on continual inculcation of internationally recognised best business management practices,” he said.

He added: “BA ISAGO UNIVERSITY, as a dynamic private tertiary education institution offering accredited market-driven programmes, has taken the right step of implementing best business practices that will give confidence to your customers and stakeholders. Through this achievement, the University will meaningfully contribute to the ideals of the Nation’s Vision 2036 and the government reset agenda, specifically on provision of quality education pursuant to the achievement of the much needed knowledge-based economy”.

According to Kebapetse, the history of quality movement spans from 1456 BC when the Egyptians built their Pyramids right through to the 1950s when two Americans, Dr Edward Deming and Joseph Duran taught the Japanese how to incorporate quality in rebuilding Japan post the 2nd World War.
