Absa Bank Botswana launches NovoFX app

The upgraded mobile app has modern design & aesthetics making it attractive.

As the world rapidly moves into the digital world, Absa Bank Botswana is also poised to meet its customer needs.

27 July 2020, Botswana – Recently, Absa Bank Botswana launched its flagship mobile phone forex exchange buying app called Nov FX. The app simplifies and make it seamless to buy foreign exchange (forex) and make cross border payments from a mobile phone.

“We are constantly innovating to meet the transactional needs of our customers which allows them to bank anywhere, at their own time. Botswana has one of the highest mobile phone penetrations in the world at 150%, which offers Absa the opportunity to continue deploying new products offerings through channels that most of our customer’s use.” said James Nthoi, Head of Markets.

The move to introduce a NovoFX app is also in line with the bank’s goal of making branch visits for essential customer needs and not for everyday banking.

The app is available and can be downloaded from both Android and IOS phones through Google or Apple store for free. As this is a transactional app, NovoFX is accessible to existing Absa customers that have cheque or savings account and should be registered for internet banking.

“Being registered for internet banking is a pre-requisite as a customer has to use their credentials for NovoFX” added Nthoi. There are fees associated with using the NovoFX app and these are foreign exchange commissions and swift charges inclusive of VAT as outlined in Absa Bank Botswana Tariff Guide.
