Stanbic Bank’s purpose, Botswana is our home, we drive her growth, rings no truer than on Africa Day, when the people of Africa unite to celebrate the diaspora’s rich heritage and wealth of possibilities. A proudly Botswana business basking in the warmth of Africa’s passion for growth, peace and prosperity, the Bank sees a day such as this as an opportunity to reflect on the milestones our country has achieved and the economic goals the Nation continues to aspire to.

Said Stanbic Bank Botswana Chief Executive, Samuel Minta, “Africa Day is a special time in our calendar as we get to proudly celebrate our heritage along with the rest of the continent. This day serves as an opportunity for us to rejoice in our diversity and success. Furthermore, it allows us to pay homage to those who came before us, those whose shoulders we proudly stand on today. It is a time for us to reflect on how far we have come and our contribution towards the growth and prosperity of our Nation and the great diaspora. Our continent has a rapidly growing youth population and if we continue to invest in their growth and prosperity, we could see a phenomenal increase in productivity and greater economic growth on the continent.”

The African Union, formerly known as the Organisation of African Unity, was formed on the 25th of May 1963. Africa Day is a day to commemorate the formation of this organisation with a call to action for sustainable peace and prosperity on the continent. Celebrated in various countries on the continent and across the world, the annual commemoration further aims to celebrate African unity.

“As part of the Standard Bank Group, we pride ourselves in having a footprint across the continent, helping our customers turn their dreams into reality. We take our role as custodians of helping our people, our customers and our communities build legacies. We recognise that our great diaspora bears many opportunities for growth and therefore stand united with the rest of Africa in celebrating this important day and reaffirm our commitment to driving Botswana and Africa’s growth.” concluded Minta.
