Stanbic Bank Botswana continues to work towards flying Botswana’s flag high, creating shared value and delivering progress and impact at every turn possible. The Bank mist recently is pleased to deliver impact in the firm of sponsoring three (3) University of Botswana students for future skills development. This is underpinned by the Bank’s Social, Environment, and Economics (SEE) strategic value driver, working to further support education, bridge the youth employability gap, and contribute towards Botswana’s transformation and innovation readiness.

3.    Timothy Ngwenya, Data Science Solution on Azure (Microsoft)

Said Stanbic Bank Botswana Ms. Keamogetse Mpudi, Stanbic Bank Botswana Head of Transformation, “It was an honour to witness an initiative such as this one that lives up to its commitment of empowering youth. The ambition and objective of this programme is to support youth and be part of their educational growth as well as the digital transformation of Botswana, helping inch closer towards a knowledge-based economy as espoused in Vision 2036. We recognise the role we can and must play in working to deliver progress for Batswana, and we are committed to doing just that. This is but one means through which we are living true to our Purpose, Botswana is our home; we drive her growth. It is not only about transforming academic and vocational dreams into lasting realities, but in ushering the Nation into its next chapter of progress. We are privileged to play a part in that mission.”

The Bank continues to give youth platforms for future skills development as a way of cultivating their future and employment opportunities. Most recently, this has been demonstrated through the extensive investment in youth employability and entrepreneurship efforts through the Stanbic Bank Accelerate Incubator, as well as a number of academic sponsorship efforts. Education remains a core element in the Bank’s CSI strategy under SEE.

Said Dr. Tshiamo Motshegwa of the University Industry Government Cocreation Platform at  University of Botswana, “As a premier institution of higher learning in Botswana, the University of Botswana’s mission is to take a leading role in the provision of quality education, research, innovation and engagement for sustainable national development and global impact. The overall aim is to produce well rounded graduates with the relevant knowledge, skills and competencies to achieve their true potential and personal fulfillment. The collaboration with Stanbic Bank Botswana goes a long way in helping the University of Botswana drive its new strategy of Creating a Future for the Knowledge-based Generation. The courses in this training programme will upskill students with professional competencies required by market, thus bridging the gap between education and industry and giving the graduates a competitive edge for active participation in the digital transformation of Botswana.”

“We want to play a meaningful role in supporting Botswana’s youth through educational growth and help deliver sustainable digital transformation. With Stanbic Bank, It Can Be, and we look forward to seeing these three youth demonstrate that in their next chapters,” concluded Mpudi.
