Cash stripped Sharps Shooting Stars have suffered a heavy blow in their quest to secure a top 8 finish following the sudden resignation of coach Rapelang Razor Tsatsilebe.

Tsatsilebe confirmed to this publication that he has resigned his position as a coach for the team. He however did not reveal his next move though reports have since linked him to taking the coaching role at Mochudi Centre Chiefs who have since parted ways with coach Philani Mabena.

“Yes, I can confirm that I am no longer with Sharps. There is no bad blood between us. I was not fired; I parted ways with team peacefully. I just put on the resignation with the management accepting it without any conflicts,” revealed Tsatsilebe.

He blamed certain unfulfilled promises for his departure but refused to go into detail. He could only stress that he is looking forward for a new challenge as a coach.

So far the club is on position four on the log table with 28 points from 15 games – having registered eight wins, four draws and three losses.

Sharps Manager Gudsta Bayendi confirmed the departure of Tsatsilebe, saying it was a great loss to the team, adding that his remarkable contribution to the club cannot be overemphasized without any doubt.

He said the club has parted ways with the coach amicably. “He (Razor) approached us when the year begun and told us he will not work with the team in the second round and we accepted his resignation as well. We are facing financial struggles as a team now and if he has found green pastures we wish him well,” said the manager.

Bayendi said with their financial challenges they fear losing some of star players such as Tshepo Malgas who has been under the radar of stronger sides such as Orapa United.

Assistant coach Kentse Motlhale is to lead the team on interim basis while they search for a head coach.  Already a number of aspirants – both local and international – have shown interest in coaching the team.

“We are looking for a full time coach and I can confirm that we have been receiving enquiries for the coaching post from some of high profile coaches both from home and abroad. We will weigh the options as time goes on,” he said.
