Limkokwing University of Creative Technology embarked on a 3-Day training programme for 20 Kweneng District Council officers managing the district’s Poverty Eradication Programme that started at the university’s Gaborone campus that ran from April 16 to 18, 2019.  This training was conducted in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the University. The objectives of the training were to empower the officers on marketing, branding, customer care, accounting and on health and safety.

Speaking during the launch of the 3-Day training programme, Ms Sehumwe – the Deputy Director of the Department of Community Development in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development – expressed her gratitude for the historic partnership that the two organisations share and the training offered by the university.

“I am very happy to see the first ever training offered by Limkokwing University to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development,” she said, adding that the training programmes would go a long way in building capacity in the officers and benefit the rural communities in the areas of entrepreneurship, marketing and branding.

Dr. Gape Kaboyakgosi – Limkokwing University Vice Chancellor – said the training aimed to strengthen the existing ties between the university and the council, especially with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. He said: “We seek to strengthen our capacity to enrich the learning experiences of our stakeholders and to reenergize links with the industry”.
