‘Legends Barbershop’, South Africa’s most popular stylish salon opened their first new branch in Botswana at Hillside Mall in Gaborone on Saturday.

The brand has announced  that the branch will be their their first shop to be opened outside South Africa, and it will also be their 18th store since its birth in 2011. According to a statement, opening the branch will better serve Batswana who used to travel for their legendary service across the border. Their future plans are to expand their shops across Botswana.

“Plans to open the store were stimulated by market insights which proved the popularity of the brand among the Botswana market and the high appetite and market need for the brand in Botswana. The opening of Legends barbershop’s new Gaborone branch on Saturday the 25th of July 2020 is an important step in realizing the need for more local professional barbershops that will consistently meet customer demands in a qualitative manner,” reads a statement.

The brand offers hair grooming services for both men and women, and the legendary team ensures quality haircuts and quality service. “All the current legendary barbers have gone through an intensive 8+ months training the whole of 2019 at one of the many training centers across the continent which fully equips barbers with the legendary values namely respect, integrity and quality, customer experience has also been at the heart of these training sessions.”

The Botswana branch comes after Owner and founder of the franchise, Sheldon Tatchell met with a young Motswana, Kealeboga Gaelebale in 2019 who was interested in serving Batswana with the Legendary services after conducting research on the brand demand.  The two had back and forth discussion until agreeing to finally open the 18th store in Botswana. The brand was then fully registered to operate under the Botswana laws. The brand will adopt the same  model but personalizing it to the Botswana market.

Legends Barbershop was started in South Africa in 2011 but the barbershop started making headway in 2014 after Tatchell decided to leave his corporate banking to follow his lifelong dream, which was to show South Africa his haircutting talent. Passionate about his talent and always  wanting to start up his own business, Tatchell took a step in starting Southern Africa’s most talked about barbershop. Six years later, and still going strong the legends barbershop franchise has established 17 stores across South Africa and a mobile bus which is the first in South Africa.
