Gospel artist, Mpeleki July has found redemption and hope for better days through her passion for music. Last month, she released a new track titled Salvation, which is part of her album ‘ I Found Salavation’ to be released later this year in August. The masterpiece continues to attract positive feedback from fans. The track is available on all streaming platforms and is also played by local popular radio stations, such as RB1, RB2, Yarona FM and Gabz FM. “The title track Salvation means I found salvation in Christ, and inspired by observations of what we are going through, the life challenges, especially with the Corona virus pandemic; we were losing friends, family members, jobs, businesses and in despair but I found my hope in Christ and encourage people to do the same, so that things will turn around fine regardless of what they are going through,” July explained.
Speaking more on the motivation of her newly released song, July attests it to her unwavering faith and belief that things would eventually change for the better. “I was looking at how things were turning around, as I went through bumpy roads and held on to Christ and the situation ultimately improved,” she added. The 41-year-old teacher by profession, said the track has been warmly received describing the reception as very positive. “They really love the songs and want the song in large numbers,” July mentioned.
Life, as the song suggests is full or trials and tribulations and July confirms this, citing how difficult and challenging life is as a creative in the midst of Covid-19 restrictions. “We however have to find other means of putting food on the table and look for other sources of income, “she said. July is currently looking forward to registering for the upcoming Botswana Music Union (BOMU) awards, and is anticipating to walkway with an award this year. “Right now, I can’t give the right answer on whether I’m certain about winning or not however, I am looking forward to a win, “she added.
Mpeleki has a long-standing history with music from early childhood but only began her music journey commercially in 2012, however, with her first album titled Morena wa Barena. She was nominated for the Botswana Gospel Music awards in 2018 and 2019. July is a seasonal gospel artist with a heart of gold, dedicating time off work and her career to carry out charity work. One of the many initiatives she is actively invested in is the Balopi Adopt a Child initiative and upon completing her second album, she hopes to dedicate some funds towards assisting churches in Botswana.
