FNBB – through its Corporate Social Responsibility division, FNBB Foundation – has handed over 2000 facemasks valued at P100, 000 to Ministry of Basic Education. The masks were produced by twenty local fashion designers, through the “Bodiragatsi Jwame, Lentswe Lame” Initiativeand will be donated to Metsimotlhabe and Neale Primary Schools.
As a response to offer relief to those in the creative and performing arts industry, FNBB Foundation made a nationwide call for creative arts submissions. The Bank introduced the “Bodiragatsi Jwame, Lentswe Lame” initiative, aimed at offering support to the creative industry during this difficult time. A total of P1.5 million was set aside to offer support towards creatives with ongoing projects.
“Fighting the impact of this pandemic requires a collaborative effort and as a Bank we are continuously ensuring that we play our part in our communities and in the nation as a whole. I am pleased that we had the opportunity to collaborate with local fashion designers as well as the Ministry of Basic Education to assist in helping keep students safe during this pandemic,” said FNBB Director of Marketing & Communications, Peo Porogo.
The chosen designers who were engaged for this project are Afri-Merit Pty Ltd and Fashion Without Borders. These two local youth entities were awarded P50,000 respectively, in order to implement this project, and they created these face masks for vulnerable communities. This initiative was in support of the lockdown relaxations, as communicated by the Government of Botswana.
FNBB understands the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to work hard to relieve those who have been affected.
