… Spends P240 000SEE ALSO:

First National Bank Botswana has taken a step to empower SMMEs by procuring 60 000 bottles of water worth P246 000 from four local youth-owned businesses in Gaborone, Maun and Serowe. The water will be donated to the Botswana Defence Force and the Botswana Police Service personnel who are on patrol across the country.

Speaking at the handover, FNBB Trustee, Dorcas Kgosietsile said; “While it’s important to take care of our police officers and soldiers on patrol, we also understand that these are challenging times for SMMEs. We therefore deliberately procured water from youth businesses to help them stay afloat during this challenging time and ease their financial troubles. This donation is therefore providing relief and support to both these groups”.SEE ALSO:

“Over 7000 Police officers and Soldiers deployed across the country will benefit from this donation. We truly appreciate their dedication to serving this country”, further stated Kgosietsile.

According to FNBB, this donation comes as part of the bank’s P10 million COVID-19 relief contribution announced in April, in which P5 million was paid directly to government COVID-19 Relief Fund and P5 million committed to various community and civil initiatives. These initiatives include supporting front-line and essential workers; providing basic needs for the underprivileged; providing shelter and necessities for gender-based violence survivors as well as supporting the local creative industry and SMMEs. These are being implemented through the Bank’s charitable arm, FNBB Foundation.  FNBB is committed to helping Batswana in minimising the impact of COVID-19 for both individuals and businesses.
