China celebrates 70

The Acting Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Shaw Kgathi joined the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China. Kgathi stressed that the relationship between China and Botswana has grown from strength to strength as demonstrated by the realised stronger Botswana-China partnership

He commended the social and economic achievements of the China, highlighting that Botswana appreciates the development and technical assistance in various fields that China has offered Botswana over the years. “I chose to highlight these few areas. However, they do not represent the entire scope of our collaboration as evidenced by over 30 bilateral agreements covering a variety of sectors such as Agriculture, Trade, Science and Technology, Culture, and Defense, to name a few.”  said Kgathi in his remarks.

For his apart, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Dr. Zhao Yanbo said for the past 70 years China has witnessed miraculous changes in economy, history, livelihood, and significant change in China`s relations with the world. Yanbo stressed that China is committed to better world for Africa remains unchanged. He said China and Botswana will next year marks 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He said the two countries have enjoyed deep-rooted friendship and always supported each other.
