Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) has awarded Flotek with the Botswana Standard (BOS) ISO 15877 – 2: 2009 Certificate for its new Chlorinated Poly Vinyl Chloride (CPVC) plumping solution launched last year making the CPVC pipes high quality assured.

The plumbing solution dubbed Botswana’s big technological revolution in the plumbing industry was launched by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi in November 2018 and got officially certified by BOBS on Thursday.

The CPVC Flow guard plumbing solution – being the first of its kind in the SADC region – is an outcome of Flotek partnership with Lubrizol Corporation, an American-based leading manufacturing company.

During the awarding of the certification the Managing Director of BOBS Masego Marobela said it was a significant achievement on the journey of Flotek in offering plumbing and manufacturing solutions.

Marobela recognised Flotek for being consistent in meeting the requirements of standard framework, noting that the BOS ISO 15877 – 2: 2009 Certification without any doubt is a clear sign that Flotek is producing high quality products to the market.

She said the BOS ISO 15877 – 2: 2009 awarding is therefore proof that Flotek does its business in the right way and not accidentally, as quality is planned.

“The CPVC pipeline solution by Flotek remains to be one of the most unique products and for it being officially quality assured by BOBS means that the company is doing well in ensuring quality assurance on its products. Flotek made a strategic decision to embark on an exercise to pass testing, hence being BOS ISO 15877 – 2: 2009 certified and using its quality management principles for selling its goods,” she said.

Marobela appealed to Flotek to remain consistent in producing quality products, charging that it will earn more high standardised certification thus positioning it to the larger market based on the quality and adherence of world standards. .

Vijay Naik, Managing Director of Flotek, said the certification of CPVC plumbing solution shows that they strive to add value to their products.

He contends that the awarding of certification will go a long way in boosting the export market for the company from the much SADC dominated market into the entire world for the high on demand CPVC pipes together with other products to a large extent.

“The undertaking of the successful certification of the CPVC plumbing solution was necessitated by the quest to provide high quality products and services and also pursue business in the global market,” MD Naik charged.

According to Naik, after a long operation they found it necessary to upgrade by venturing into technology-aided plastic manufacturing in order to   offer customers some surety of quality products and services by standardising the business operations.

He said the quality assurance of the company is also bankable on it forming part to Southern Africa Plastic Pipes Manufacturing Association (SAPPMA) as well as being affiliated to Botswana Exporters and Manufacturers Association (BEMA) in the local context.

SAPPMA is an association of leading companies in the plastics piping business with the purpose of facilitating high standards of ethics, product quality and technical information.
