Absa Bank Botswana donated a sick bay to the Lephoi Centre for Learners on 23 June 2023 at the Lephoi Centre in Francistown. The Lephoi Centre provides specialised education and support to students with visual impairments, and the addition of the sick bay will ensure that the students receive the necessary care when unwell.

The absence of a sick bay was a pressing concern for the Lephoi Centre, and Absa Bank Botswana recognised the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of these students. The donation of the sick bay aligns with Absa Bank Botswana’s commitment to supporting education and skills development in the country.

The sick bay valued at P266, 475 is an essential facility in an educational environment and will provide the students with a safe space to receive healthcare services during their time at the centre.

Mrs. Kegomoditswe Gaebolae, Regional Manager at Absa Bank Botswana, expressed her enthusiasm about the donation, stating, “We are delighted to support the Lephoi Centre by providing a fully functional sick bay for the students. At Absa Bank Botswana, we firmly believe in the importance of education and skills development, especially for individuals with special needs. This donation underscores our commitment to giving back to the community and showcases our dedication to the development and well-being of the people in Botswana.”

Absa Bank Botswana is committed to continuing its efforts to support educational initiatives and make a positive impact in the communities it serves. By providing the sick bay and promoting financial literacy, the bank aims to empower individuals, drive sustainable development, and contribute to the overall well-being of society.

Gaebolae further emphasised the significance of financial literacy and its role in empowering individuals and communities. “As part of our involvement in this event, our colleagues will take the opportunity to impart financial literacy knowledge to the employees, including teachers of the Lephoi Centre. We believe that financial literacy plays a vital role in equipping individuals with the necessary skills to make informed financial decisions, thereby fostering economic growth and stability whilst creating a more prosperous society.”
