THAMAGE IS NEW KPC CHAIRPERSON

Botswana has been bestowed with the honour to hold the chairmanship of the prestigious Kimberly Process for the year 2022 taking over from Russia. The Diamond Hub Coordinator, Mr Jacob Thamage has been confirmed as the Kimberly Process Chairperson. The confirmation took place in Moscow, Russia over the weekend.The last time Botswana chaired the Kimberly Process was sixteen years ago taking over from Russian
Federation.
The newly appointed Kimberly Process chairperson, Mr Thamage has committed that Botswana will uphold the legacy of the Kimberly Process by persevering and building upon the gains made over the years to fine tune the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme. The commitment will be upheld taking into account the current challenges and opportunities. In that regard, Botswana Chairmanship will adopt the theme “Diamonds, a catalyst for Sustainable Development”
