In a style packed show over the last weekend at the Grandpalm, a fashion design outfit, new kid on the block ngüo, won an internship with Mr Price Group from South Africa.
Mr Price fashion has been working with the Botswanan government on assisting to develop the clothing industry in Botswana through a number of initiatives, and Fashion without Borders is one of them – an event focused on identifying and developing talent in the fashion industry by giving opportunities to fashion designers and models. The event was held in Botswana on the 14th, 15th, and 16th of October and showcased talent from all over Africa!
As a sponsor in the Fashion without Borders event, Mr Price provides the top 3 contestants with a 3- week intern training programme at Mr Price head office to give the young designers retail business experience. The winners will get to be involved in the full retail process including spending time with various departments from trend and buying to sourcing, quality assurance and marketing, as well as local suppliers to grow their skills in this area.
“We are proud to have been partnering with the Fashion without Borders team for 4 years now. Mr Price is committed to helping develop the apparel industry in Africa and specifically Botswana. For the industry to be successful, a strong product development capability has to exist, it is not just about manufacturing. Therefore, we look forward to continuing our support with the Fashion without Borders events as we are seeing some incredible talent coming through.” – Anthony Findlay, Mr Price
