MVA Fund conducts City-To-City Road Safety Road show

Motor Vehicle Accident Fund has embarked on a road safety roadshow in partnership with Duma Fm and Medical Rescue International (MRI 992). The roadshow is a platform to reach out to members of the public (all road users) in promotion of road traffic safety and First Aid, through physical interactions as well as social media and radio broadcasts.

The roadshow is necessitated by the noticeable increase in the number of road traffic crashes, especially those resulting in fatalities and serious injuries as reported by the Botswana Police Service.

The objectives of the roadshow are: to raise awareness among road users on road traffic safety amid the rising numbers of road traffic crashes with special emphasis on the following identified key risk factors; Driving above recommended speed limits; Driving under the influence of alcohol and other habit-forming substances; and Pedestrian safety.

The roadshow covers areas along major highways which are highly prone to road traffic crashes, being the A12 (Gaborone – Molepolole) and the A1 Highway (between Gaborone and Francistown).

The schedule of the roadshow is as follows.

Molepolole (Mafenyatlala mall) – February 12, 2022

Gaborone Bus Rank – 14 February 2022 (1400hrs – 1800hrs)

Mochudi Kgabo Mall – 15 February 2022 (1400hrs – 1800hrs)

Palapye Junction Mall – 17 February 2022 (1400hrs – 1800hrs)

Francistown Galo Mall – 19 February 2022 (1000hrs – 1400hrs)
