Experts from Botswana Geoscience Institute and Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) are yet to determine the cause of cracks found on the ground in Hatsalatladi village in Kweneng District.

Kweneng District Council Secretary Goleba Kgari said on Friday that investigations by Botswana Geoscience Institute and Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) are still ongoing to determine the cause of the cracks. “The experts from the two institutions are coming back next week to continue with the investigations,” he said, adding that there is minimal damage to properties in the village as only some few house foundations have cracked but added that they are closely monitoring the situation.

This is not the first time that the village experiences cracks of the ground surface as it happened before in 2016 after heavy rains.
