Guma, Moitoi likely to be expelled from BDP

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) faces an uphill task of keeping its rank and file under one roof after Samson Moyo Guma and Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi’s Sunday meeting in Serowe.

The tide started shifting against Guma and Venson-Moitoi after the unsanctioned Sunday meeting in which they attacked the party leadership.

Highly placed sources within the party have revealed that the party leadership is still studying the words uttered at the Lady Khama Centre meeting.

Addressing some BDP members on Sunday, Venson-Moitoi took a veiled swipe at President Mokgweetsi Masisi, saying that he was a cry baby.

“I have done human psychology and know this type of children who like provoking others and when they retaliate, they start crying aloud,” she hit out.

Guma, who is also a member of the party’s Central Committee, dismissed President Masisi as inexperienced and called on former President Khama to return from retirement.

“Batswana are now scared; they don’t know what is happening. They live in fear and it is high time we look for an experienced leader and that person is Venson-Moitoi,” he said.

Should Guma be expelled from the party it will be for the second time as former President Khama expelled him in 2010. At the time Guma had also questioned Khama’s way of governing the country.
