Botswana Tourism Organization (BTO) joined the tourism industry players this past week to exhibit at the 6th edition of World Travel Market Africa in Cape Town, South Africa.
The event was held from the 10th-12th of April and attracted close to 5000 patrons from the industry. World Travel Market is a leading global event for the travel industry and therefore brings greater benefits and opportunities of the global industry expertise to travel professionals in the region.
In order to safeguard and promote Botswana tourism to various potential tourists, BTO saw it fit to take part in the event and push their mandate further. BTO has been part of the travel show since 2014 and views the event as a platform for the local industry to conduct one-on-one exhibition for inbound and outbound Africa travel and tourism markets. As if that was not enough the tourism promoting agency brought other local industry players under their banner in order to provide them with a chance to also showcase their services at the event.
Some 19 operators from Botswana were housed under BTO stall amongst them Air Botswana, Flames of Africa, Khama Rhino Sanctuary, Travelodge Kasane, Masa Square and Chobe Bakwena.
According to BTO, it is through this platform that the industry networks, reach global and regional focus to create business opportunities therefore providing customers with quality contacts, content and communities.
“The show presented operators and travel professionals with the chance to network, learn about new market developments and trends through extensive business to business engagements in tourism business industry which helps to further grow their operations. So it’s imperative that BTO engages in extensive marketing of Botswana’s tourism attractions and destinations through the synergy opportunities presented at the show. We will continue to facilitate and explore these exciting advertising platforms and opportunities to help increase destination marketing awareness and experiences,” said Acting PR & Communication manager Samuel Lephalo.
Still at the event BTO received great recognition from the event organisers.
“WTM Africa organisers have bestowed us with an accolade of Best Stand for doing Business during the exhibition. This is a proof of the considerable efforts that the Botswana tourism industry extended in the delivery of quality service and presentation to the WTM attendants,” said Lephalo.
