BAC launches online study mode

… Product to broaden reach and access of course offerings

Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) officially launched its online learning portal on Friday.

Through the portal, the college endeavours to expand its reach in the region and global education space offers easy access to accounting programs such as AAT, BICA, ACCA, CIMA and CFA.

Speaking to the BAC Online Learning Study-mode at the launch, BAC Executive Director, Serty Leburu, announced that the college has partnered with South African-based International Business Training College (IBTC) to introduce the learning mode.

The initiative is to be powered by United Kingdom based, BPP Professional Education Group.

She highlighted that the study-mode which is already live, offers learners the flexibility to access classroom products online, which they can access remotely without physically being in a classroom as learners will be able to engage with others as well as the lesson tutors.

“This lends the much needed comfort to clients who have a desire to study but are unable to due to other commitments,” she noted. She said the platform also nullifies the geographical challenges that learners encounter such as having to travel long distances to write their examinations when the time came.

“As a leading Business school in Botswana, the college has found it fit to come up with a solution that will reach out to the market,” she reckoned.

Leburu said the college will soon be announcing a name change that will be in line with the institution’s diverse product offering. “Skills demand grew and BAC course offerings also grew to meet the demand,” she said.

Leburu also noted that by offering online study courses, the college was playing a major role in getting Batswana to participate in the Information and Technology sector. She said the development of people’s computer skills was advantageous to the education of the country because the world is fast becoming virtually borderless.

IBTC Chief Operations Officer, Charissa Cousins, said the technology will assist the learning process as the 68 per cent of self-studying learners will get the support and assistance from their tutors. 

“In five years, the self-studying learners in ACCA who were previously failing the course due to lack of support will pass because of the support and assistance the study-mode offers,” she said via a recording she made prior to the event.
