In an effort to empower and grow local businesses outreach through digital and online marketing, Cene Media has launched new Free Wi-Fi Zones in partnership with Botswana Fibre Networks (BOFINET) to give businesses a captive market to advertise their new services geared towards a very definite audience.
Speaking during the official launch of Cene City Free internet product this week, the CEO of Cene Media Nial Downey said the product comes with good opportunities that local businesses and aspiring enterprises can use to market their products and services, as the businesses can design bespoke adverts directly through Cene City service platforms.
Downey said the system provides smart reporting monthly such as revealing how many clicks on the businessesโ adverts hence the businesses can calculate the effectiveness in relation to their marketing spend.
Cene City also provide value for money platform which will pave the way forward for digital marketing in Botswana, and this facilitates digital spacing which according Downey is environmentally friendly and is a great platform for advertising products and services in the 21st century.
He said they will be working with local broadcasters to facilitate effective online broadcasting, adding that local content producers such as musicians could utilise the platform for branding themselves as well.
Moreover, the product will offer services like purchase of tickets online, payment platforms with the portal set to offer an online store early 2019. The portal can be accessed through mobile phone and laptop set with free data valid for an hour.
โWe have worked on developing this exciting project two months ago in collaboration with with the consideration of empowering the entrepreneurial skills that exists locally as core mandate of the product development. We are humbled by the private public partnership that has agreed to enter on with us on and we are looking forward for more effective working partnerships in other related projects in future as well,โ said Downey.
CEO Mabua Mabua contended that his organisation is committed to offering world class telecommunications infrastructure to improve the internet efficiency and access in the country. He said will use its hotspots infrastructure to activate the 34 hotspot zones which are mainly located in the malls, airports and hospitals where the Cene City Free Wi-Fi will be activated.
