THE GREEDY CHARACTERS OF BOTSWANA FOOTBALL SEEK TO EAT! -Kabelo Masvingo

You see, Football is an important game from the point of view of the spectator as well as the player. This 90 minutes game is full of excitement and thrill. Moreover, it keeps the player mentally and physically healthy, and disciplined. And this ninety minute game tests their sportsmanship, patience, and tolerance. However, much focus is given to the players, there are also the administrators. Football administrators range from coaches, team Managers, technical team to team owners. Today my thoughts are with the administration of football in the country with reference to the removal of Nicholas Zakhem and Jagdish Shah from positions in the league executive.

Intriguing times in the Botswana Football League as vultures ready themselves to prey on the unsuspecting football community. The asserted removal of the Botswana Football League Chairperson Nicholas Zakhem and board member Jagdish Shah comes as nothing but a greedy call for vengeance by a cabal of pantsola’s masquerading as football lovers. Indeed the greedy characters of Botswana Football seek to eat.

When Nicholas Zakhem was brought in as Botswana Football League Chairperson the narrative was set, Champaign toasts made cementing the death of MacLean Letshwiti’s administration at Botswana Football Association (BFA). Have we all now forgotten? Not so long ago how Nicholas Zakhem specifically took the liberty to pursue an ungodly task  discrediting the Botswana Football Association ( BFA) President MacLean Letshwiti insisting he is incompetent for the task? The very individuals who now want him out were the very individuals who brought him in. Now as he has found common ground to work with Letshwiti the vultures have turned against him. They want him out and funny enough Shah is just a goat caught in an elephants trap.

One may think there is some cleansing as the vultures of the game seek to convince unsuspecting football fans. It is important to approach these situation with open communication and respect for differing opinions. If there are concerns about the Zakhem and Shah it would have been helpful to have a constructive dialogue to address any issues and work towards a resolution that benefits the league as a whole but no…friends met in Palapye at a fancy gathering purporting to decide the fate of the league when in actual fact they were attending a stag party! They dismally failed to meet the 75percent threshold to hold a meeting of such decisive character. They simply got excited for nothing!

It is much disappointing to see individuals in football using dishonest tactics to push for the removal of Zakhem and Shah. The integrity of the sport should always be a top priority, and its disheartening to see greed and manipulation at play.Hopefully, the true values of the game will prevail, and those involved will be held accountable for their action.

With the duo now having taken the matter before the courts, what I in my little corner, in my capacity as a citizen of this nation and part of the new generation can reassure the hand behind the removal of Zakhem and Shah that our Football is not for sale to the highest bidder. May the assassins and greedy characters of our local football drink and wine from  his pockets. They lost the first and second round to have Botswana Premier league President recalled and now they are mischievously plotting the downfall of Letshwiti. Be reassured Zakhem and Shah are moon-walking to the pitch in the not so far future to present to Football lovers and footballers their game. As for them? Well they need to be emotionally prepared for yet another humiliation.
