Botswana Society for Jazz Education (BOSJE) announced their first-ever music concert in commemoration of Women’s Month titled: ‘Her,’ to be hosted on the 28th of August 2021. The virtual concert curated by BOSJE aims to recognise and celebrate women in Botswana, as well as to showcase the inspiring contributions of female artists in the music industry.

BOSJE Founding Director, Akhutleleng Mogami said they are thrilled to host this amazing event to recognise women and the crucial role they play in society as a whole. “Through this initiative, we hope to tell Her story through the arts and shine a spotlight on Her talent and legacy, in efforts to empower Her, and the young women that follow,” she said.

The concert will feature riveting performances by Botswana’s leading ladies in the music industry, promising an unforgettable experience. Artists on the line up include Samantha Mogwe, Jembesoul, Ms. Abbey, Filwe, Jonjobike, Sebaga, Chello and more, as well as a special performance from the BOSJE band. The Her livestream concert will air exclusively on the Facebook platform empowering local female artists to make their mark in exciting new disruptive ways with a thrilling virtual experience.

“With all that is happening in the world right now, it is important to take a pause from the chaos and uplift people’s spirits with our talents. Through the power of music – a subject that is close to my heart, we really hope to make a difference and not only acknowledge the greatness that lies in women but also give a memorable experience for our viewers,” said Mogami.
