Botswana Musicians Union Executive describes as misleading and factually untrue voice notes and letters that have been written by one Eddie “Snyomefere” Monthe and circulated in various WhatsApp Groups. It’s completely abnormal for a person who is not a member or a leader of an organization to go on a tour speaking on its behalf when he has no facts and legal standing.

Allegations that BOMU has been de-registered are false and should be ignored, and no program of the organization has been stopped/cancelled as alleged. BOMU is in possession of a letter from the Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs dated 4th June

2021 giving BOMU a waiver to operate until it has submitted relevant documents required as per the Societies Act.

BOMU Executive Committee on the 9th June 2021 submitted all the requested documents by the Minister from the year 1998 to 2021 (Annual Returns, Minutes, Affidavits and Statements) and laid to rest the organizations compliance issues with the Societies Act. In order to protect the image of the organization BOMU has since instructed its lawyers JJ Matomela Attorneys to sue Mr. Eddie Monthe for spreading false and untruthful information against the organization. A letter of demand has already been delivered to Mr. Monthe and this will be followed up by a summons if he does not cooperate and comply with our demands set forth in the letter of demand.

BOMU Executive and its membership have taken a decision to litigate against any person who in the current or future will try and bring its name into disrepute.

With the above said any person or organization that will entertain Mr. Monthe on matters related to BOMU will be doing that at their own will and BOMU will not be liable.

The Rights of BOMU and Its Members remains reserved through its constitution.
