AP YOUNG PROGRESSIVES LEAGUE STANDS WITH THE INNOCENT PROTESTERS OF ESWATINI

APYPL believes that Swaziland is a poor country with large proportion of its population living below the poverty line, given the state of human development in Eswatini it is reasonable to ask ourselves what is the human development cost of the king’s luxurious lifestyle??? How many infant lives could be saved if the king’s wives shopping sprees were curtailed???

No matter how much we may value Africa traditions, such traditions must be questioned when their continuance links with heavy costs in terms of human development….This are some of the things Eswatini protestors are complaining of and we as the APYPL support this protestors. We call on the SADC to address this kind of bad behavior that is being placed by the government of Eswatini and to ensure freedom of expression and sustainable peace and stability at Swaziland.
APYPL is urging Eswatini authorities to exercise restrain and also maintain the utmost respect for human rights. We urge them to respect the rights to freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association. Since protestors and particularly youth of Eswatini are demanding political reforms and the authorities must ensure that people are able to express their grievances without fear of intimidation or abuse….
Using of security forces to quell political dissent and failure to address legitimate civilian concerns complicates the conflicts and adds fuel to the fire. The duty of security forces must be to exercise total restrain and protect the lives and property of the people……
APYPL believe that the Eswatini government must call for an inquest into the deaths of the protesters and we also condemn the use of fire arms on to protesters.
