Motsamai rejects BMD

Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) is continuing to lose parliamentary candidates and failing to find replacements for them with only two months left before the general elections.

After Thabo Autlwetse ditched them, BMD is said to have approached former President of Botswana Public Employees Union (BOPEU) Andrew Motsamai to fill the political vacuum in Gaborone Central. In an interview Motsamai confirmed that BMD approached him to stand as a parliamentary candidate for Gaborone Central but he has since turned down the offer. “Yes I was approached but am not ready for partisan politics but rather focusing on my projects as well as nurturing my family,” he said.

This is not the first time that Motsamai was approached to stand as parliamentary candidate in Gaborone as in 2014 he was asked to fill the void left by the death of Gomolemo Motswaledi but also turned down the offer.
