Post Covid-19: Ngamiland must change gears

*DUMELANG SALESHANDO

Last week was a good week for the Ngami area in terms of donations for fellow citizens finding it difficult to survive under the COVID environment. Together with MPs Kekgonegile and Hikuama we were honored to receive donations from Ngamiland Abattoir and Beef Boys (over 5 tons of meat donated). The Tandurei Restaurant also came through with 1,000 loaves of bread. Blessed is the hand that giveth.

This period has been about giving to the needy for survival, which is critical for Ngamiland as its one of the poverty stricken districts in Botswana. Post the pandemic Ngamiland has to change gears. We appreciate all those who came out to put food on the table at a moment of need. We now need to discuss how together we assist the people of Ngamiland to catch their own fish and not wait for a donation.

“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.
