Botswana Diamond Workers Union (BDWU) has complaied that Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) -the state-owned diamond seller –victimises employees whodemand that the company grant recognition tothe tradeunion that represents their interests in the workplace.
BDWU leaders allege that when they tried to persuade ODC management to grant them recognition, they launched a crackdown on employees who were pushing for unionisation in the workplace. The snub has led to the suspension of some employees who had joined the trade union.
