‘Unlike some, I don’t merely visit my home village at Christmas (to) hand out sweets’

Bagaetso, ke a le dumedisa ka Pula!! Le A E JEKE yo mo tona! I was asked a few months ago if I would back down in the face of the unwarranted attacks, I was receiving from the Khama family. My response was, then as it is now: I shall always stand by what is right and just. History will judge, very harshly, those that fell prey to the will of one man, over a nation. As the song goes “I did it my way” and close this chapter of my life with my head held high, as I shall never need to look over my shoulder. Three guiding principles shall however remain at the core of my being. First is that I remain a Motswana and patriot. The people of Sefhare/Ramokgonami will not stop seeing me, or the work I do in the area, unlike some, I do not merely visit my home village at Christmas and hand out sweets. No, I grew up in this constituency, walked the dusty roads and ate the produce of the lands. I will not turn my back on anyone here. Second is that I shall continue to promote unity in our nation against those that will try and divide us along tribal lines or economic lines. Botswana is for all of us, this goes back to the very foundations that were laid down for us by the great men and woman who gave us an independent Botswana in 1966. Independent from foreign intervention and independent in our belief that we can and will move our nation forward for ALL Batswana not a few. Third, is that, my blood will continue to be red! I do not have a drop of blue blood or a yellow streak in me! The BDP is my home, I will continue to stand behind the visionary leader that we have today, HE DR MEK Masisi, who has promised an ambitious 5 years ahead, I will continue to do my bit to help make this a reality. Botswana needs this, Batswana need this and the BDP will deliver this. On a final note, it would be remise of me not to thank all who supported me and continue to support me. The messages and phone calls having been plentiful, I cannot share enough my gratitude for the support. Le kamoso, a modimo a le babalele. Bachese Moghel … Re mmogo kgaolo 21
