Political Parties’ Windfall

In a noteworthy step towards fostering a cooperative political environment, the All-Party Conference (APC) convened on Thursday in Gaborone to address pressing issues, including electoral reforms and the contentious political party funding. Chaired by Minister for State President Moeti Mohwasa, the conference was lauded for its inclusivity and commitment to bridging political divides. Mohwasa set the tone by urging participants to prioritise national interests over partisan loyalty. “We endeavour to do things differently than the previous administration,” he stated, adding that meritocracy, not party allegiance, would guide the ruling party’s decisions. He emphasised the need for collaboration across political lines to achieve the government’s five-year targets.
